Nowruz: A Celebration of Renewal and Hope
Nowruz is not just the beginning of a new year for us; it is a symbol of renewal, hope, and friendship. This celebration has a history of thousands of years, and with the arrival of spring, it brings a message of freshness and change to everyone.
One of the most important symbols of Nowruz is the Haft-Seen table, which includes seven items starting with the Persian letter “S,” each representing blessings and good fortune for the new year. For example:
Sabzeh (sprouts) symbolizes growth and life.
Seeb (apple) represents health and love.
Samanu symbolizes strength and prosperity.
The moment of the new year is when families gather around the Haft-Seen table, pray, and embrace each other with hopes for a better year ahead. During this time, visiting family and friends and giving Eidi (gifts) to children are some of the beautiful traditions of Nowruz!
